Financial Arrangements

We want our patients to understand fully all fees associated with your dental procedures. We estimate as closely as possible all insurance and fees involved. Please feel free to speak to the financial coordinator if you have any questions. We accept major credit cards for your convenience.

Insurance Information

Our office accepts several traditional and PPO insurance plans. We work closely with your insurance and will estimate your co-payments. Once you have had a complete evaluation by one of the doctors, you will receive a printed treatment plan showing your treatment with all fees and estimated insurance payments. Most dental insurance plans have yearly maximums, waiting periods and other exclusions. It is always best for you to check with your insurance carrier to familiarize yourself with your dental benefits. Our office staff is always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your treatment or insurance coverage. Please be aware that you are being treated by the dentist and not the insurance company.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I recently had a filling done, now it is sensitive, is that normal?

A. Depending on the extent of the restoration, teeth could become sensitive after treatment. This is usually transient and should resolve in a short time.

Q. I was told I should have my teeth cleaned once every three months, is that really necessary?

A. Once the dentist and dental hygienist have done a complete periodontal evaluation and cleaning, they will determine a maintenance program best suited for you. For patients with periodontal disease and bone loss a three- month cleaning regimen is usually recommended. By having more frequent cleanings these patients reduce the risk of needing more involved periodontal treatment in the future.

Q. My child was hit in the face while playing. Now one of his front teeth is turning gray. Is this something I should be concerned about?

A. As we know most children will receive their fair share of bumps and bruises while at play. It is not uncommon for a child to fall or be hit in the mouth and months later find that one of the teeth has turned slightly gray in color. This is a sign of trauma and usually requires a root canal to restore the tooth. An x-ray would have to be taken to determine the best course of treatment.

Q. I was told I have cavities that should be filled. My teeth do not bother me. Is it okay if I wait until they begin to hurt to have the fillings done?

A. Either by clinical or radiographic (x-ray) examination a dentist is able to determine if there is any decay present in a tooth. This decay can be easily removed and the tooth restored quickly and painlessly. If this decay goes untreated it will eventually destroy the tooth structure and enter into the soft tissue of the tooth. This usually causes the patient to experience discomfort. A more involved and costly procedure such as a root canal would have to be rendered.

Q. My child has cavities on his baby teeth. Since the teeth are going to fall out is it necessary to have the fillings done?

A. Children are very susceptible to decay and the decay spreads quickly in their teeth. If the teeth are not restored properly it may cause the child severe discomfort. The baby teeth keep the space open for the permanent teeth. It is not recommended that these teeth be taken out before the permanent teeth are ready to erupt. These teeth should be restored if they are decayed to allow proper eruption of the permanent teeth.

Q. What should I do if I have an emergency and the office is closed?

A. Our office has a 24-hour answering service that will take calls when our office is closed. Our answering service is instructed to contact one of the doctors for patients who are in severe pain only. Most dental emergencies can wait until the office is opened to be resolved. Always feel free to leave a message and your call will be promptly returned when the office reopens.

Q. I would be a new patient in your office and I was told that my cleaning would not be done at my first visit. What is the reason for this?

A. The first visit at our office is scheduled with the doctor for complete examination, consultation and necessary x-rays. The doctor will evaluate your periodontal (gum) condition and determine whether you need a routine dental cleaning or a more involved procedure. At your visit the doctor will discuss your treatment options and listen to your concerns about your dental health.
